No Party Pix Just Yet!

The tea party was so much fun! Really nice! We had a blast! A professional photographer actually came! He took some amazing photos, I'm just waiting to get my grubby hands on them!
I've got a few photos I can pop up as soon as I find a cable to get them off of the old ghetto digi camera!

In the mean time I've been knitting. A lot. I'm working on a baby blanket for a new family member. Ben is going to have a baby brother! His blanket is a natural wheat color and the pattern I'm using is a 19th century pattern. It's so special to make something for a tiny person who hasn't even arrived yet.

it should look like this one, only natural wheat color.
I'm also working on a pair of arm warmers for Mr Woo. He requested black. I'm still a beginner, so I'm not using circular needles or double pointed ones. Just knitting flat and I'll sew them up later, much easier for me.
i'm making Mr Woos gloves way longer & in black.
AND I'm also working on a bobble hat for our friend Mat.
Mat's is gonna be in burgundy & navy
And as an added bonus I've found free downloadable pattern from the Victoria & Albert Museum!

I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about the party photos and report!
In the mean time I'd better get back to my knitting!

The Cat is Away!

Mr Woo has gone away to visit his dad for a few days. I feel like I'm getting away with something as I'm on my own! It's just me and my little furry friends.
Truman.
Daisy.
Daisy doesn't like me, or any other female for that matter, so I'll just be feeding her carrots and toast treats through the bars of her cage.
Truman lives under my bed so I see a lot of him, ha! He does actually live under my bed - it's his kingdom. And no one had better even try to move anything from under there! My notebook fell under the bed and when I went to pull it out he charged & grunted at me! Eek! He often shows up snorffelling when he wants cuddles.

THE Tea Party is on Saturday!!! I've ordered some pretty little cupcake cases for the lemon cupcakes and some similar napkins!
aren't they pretty!

I'm going to make my Fannie Farmer yellow cupcakes, fill them with lemon curd and ice them with lemon vanilla butter cream! Similar to the 4th of July cupcakes I made....only these will be filled with gorgeousness!
Oh! And of course a carrot cake birthday cake!

I've been making pastel circle garlands and paper chains too :)
this sort of thing...haven't taken photos of mine yet!
same deal...haven't photo-ed mine yet!
I've got some photos to work on tomorrow! My first day on my own!
First of all I need to get a photo of my hanger collage for the Fritzi Marie giveaway! I'm behind! I mean, my collage is done, but I've not photoed it yet!
Then I'd better start cleaning one room at a time for our fancy party!

Tea Party Treats and I could use a little help from my friends!

Now that the 1950s tea party birthday party is only a few weeks away I can start pulling out my recipes!

The birthday girl has requested a carrot cake. No problemo! It's my speciality birthday cake!

As we do have a 1950s theme we're going to need a Jelly mould {aka Jello}. Ours will be rabbit shaped and pink!
Don't let a week go by without one! Eek!

Now....Sandwiches. The standard tea party sandwiches are cucumber & cream cheese, cress, egg mayonnaise, roast ham & english mustard...maybe we'll have some cheese sandwiches too. I'm trying to be traditional...but I might have to bust out the goats cheese and beetroot chutney.

SCONES! With jam and cream and lemon curd!
Smitten Kitchen's Dreamy Cream Scones with Cranberries...mmm....

Lemon Scones from Sunbeam. I heart lemon most!

Lots of pots of tea of course!

What am I missing?
I need little cakes perhaps. Cupcakes or cakeballs? Cookies?
More savoury snacks too?
Hmm....

I might be a little stuck here. HELP! What else shall I serve?

Thursday 2 September 2010

Hi, my name is Mrs Woo and I lose my stuff. a lot.

I have a problem with misplacing things. I do it A LOT! I think what actually happens in I tidy things away and think, "oh this will be a good place for this". Except...then I can't find it again. At least I'm not the only one, there's a WikiArticle about finding lost items!

I had a major panic when I couldn't find my engagement rings. I don't wear them all the time because they're from the 1930s and 1940s {and not insured!}. I put them in a very safe place and then couldn't find them. I was going crazy looking for them! I eventually did find them in my jewellery box. The last place I would have normally put them!

My Aunt Linda always used to ask Saint Anthony to help her find things, and you know what? It worked! Now my mom is on the St. Anthony band wagon and she swears by it too. But I can't imagine that St. Anthony is that bothered about helping me find my glue gun.

My new most lost object. My treasured glue gun. I have taken our flat apart looking for it and it seems to have disappeared! It's REDONK! I'm getting so frustrated! Where in the heck have I put it! I'm like one of those sad little squirrels who can't remember where they buried their dang nuts.

I'm going to have another good search now. I'll let you know if I find it because I sooo want to make this project. {if there's code on the top of the page of that link, just scroll down, it's all codey when i open it}

Rightio, off a hunting a glue gun I go!

Wish me luck!
