Pom into Wreath, I hope!

Months and months ago I fell in love with a project that a friend of mine Christy from Lovely Little Nest made for her sweet baby Harper. Isn't it just the loveliest pom pom?!

I just used my spare paper lantern on making an "artichoke lantern" for a friend of mine. Have you seen these?
My friend Claire sent me this photo and said "could you make one for me?"

I do have a Styrofoam ring  from one of my book wreaths
Not mine, but you get the idea. This was the actual wreath that inspired me though :)
SO! HERE GOES NOTHIN'! I'm going to attempt combining the two techniques.
Pale yellow cotton, my glue gun, scissors and wreath ring!
Check ya in a bit!

what am I making?

I have ordered these:

I'm thinking I should probably get some more hot glue gun sticks....dang! I was in hobbycraft this afternoon and I totally forgot!

AND FINALLY

I'm snooping around for a skanky old book or two that are falling apart.

Any guesses???

I'm on a Bloggy Roll!

I guess it's because I'm finding inspiration all over the place these days and I want to share it!

Firstly, I have been reminded of my own project by my sweet soon to be mum of two crafty pal Victoria!

I started a non-scarf-knitting project in February. I haven't knitted anything but squares since! Big ones, small ones, moss stitch ones! Vicky has made two squares for my blanket and I'm super excited! There are some new friends to have joined in the Mrs Woo World since February and I'd love it if you'd take a look at the post from February and join in! I've gotten a little fast and loose on the size rule. My squares are turning out to be all sorts of sizes. Ach well. It's gonna be good!

I've been making my way through my blog roll. I love new posts! Look what I found today at Do Stuff! How fun & colorful!

scrap yarn wrapped branch decoration! I'm totally digging the "free-ness" of this project!

Next we're off to Just Something I Made...Cathe Holden has always got a groovy tutorial or free download.
The other day she gave away some really pretty stationary to print. I am cursing my stupid empty printer!
I've got the urge to go write letters now!

OH! The Creative Place! How I love your phantastic paper projects!  One of my all time faves is her Christmas Card Saver.
I want to use the same idea of all of the cards we get.
You'll spend ages at The Creative Place with all of her amazing tutorials...I'm having to tear myself away to keep going!

I'll end with LollyChops. Lolly is all kinds of awesome! She is the queen of tutorials with a turquoise obsession!

Lolly's latest tutorial is a video about crotchet borders! I can't crotchet worth a toot, but maybe Lolly will be the one to make it click in my brain!

I also have to praise Lolly for helping me out with my Big Shot fabric dilemma. Lolly saved the day by answering my distraught emails super quickly ! Thanks Lolly! You rock my socks off!

So I'm feeling pretty crafty about now. How 'bout you? I'm also feeling hungry...I guess it's lunch time....
Enjoy all the hard work these creative ladies have put in just to share it with us!
I so admire people who put up tutorials. I tried to make one once and gave up pretty quickly. It was doing my head in! I decided to leave it to those who do a great job already! Thanks for sharing y'all!

My First Non-Scarf Knitting Project! Help!

I have been knitting scarves for....6 years? Since my gorgeous & patient friend Kirsten taught me to cast on & cast off and knit & purl. Then I moved to Scotland....and I never progressed from there! I've just never attempted anything else! Lately I have been attempting moss stitch and single rib...but it's all gone wrong. But don't worry! I haven't given up yet! How can I when I could be making this kind of wonderfulness?!
I've attempted crotchet. That's all I have to say about that. I want to be great and whip up beautiful creations in no time, but it doesn't exactly come naturally and I'm not an enthusiastic practice-makes-perfect-er. But I won't give up on that yet either. I PROMISE! I have too many fantasies of creating gorgeous things from vintage patterns....sigh.

Well. I'm breaking out of my scarf rut. I've been inspired by one of Mrs Cooke's blankets that Jayne rescued on our dumpster dive....I've decided to make a patch work blanket. I'm knitting 5 x 5in squares to make up the blanket. It's getting really old fast as I only know 2 stitches! So far I have 4 patches done! It is a labor of love!
{not my blanket, but this is the idea}
This is you come in!
I NEED YOUR HELP TO FINISH THIS BLANKET! I would L-O-V-E to have patches from all over the world made by creative hands all over the world to make up my first blanket! Wanna join in?!!!!!!!
HERE ARE SOME DETAILS!
Basically the patches need to be 5x5. The type of yarn doesn't matter, something from your scraps bag would be great! So far I'm using earthy tones. I love earthy/natural and jewel colors! I'm imagining chocolate brown, wheat, natural white, plum, all naturally shades of green, spicy yellow, burnt pumpkin...you get the idea. Any knit or crotchet stitch is welcome, patchwork and embroidery are also welcome! I would love it if you could put your name or something on the patch somewhere so that I will can remember each person who helped create my blanket.
I would love your help! I'd be honored if you'd take part. If you'd like to, please leave a comment and I'll get back to you with you address and any answers I can give.
Speak soon! x

My Wee Lassie

I'm worried you guys.
Poppy isn't herself {In case you don't know, Poppy is my pet hedgehog}.She's not running in her wheel which used to be her greatest pleasure. I trimmed her nails the other night hoping that would help. She's sleeping ALL of the time. I'm hoping it's down to her being cold, I can do something about that. She is still eating which is a good sign, no a GREAT sign - but she's pooping and weeing right outside of her house, that's not ok. I'm sure I'm just overreacting, but that's what we do isn't it. She is like my baby {but thank God I didn't give birth to a spike covered hedgepig!}.
If you pray, please pray for Poppy. If you send positive and healing thoughts, please send em. Whatever you do when someone is poorly will you please do it for my wee lassie?
I'm just gonna have to keep an eye on her and try not to obsess....I'd better keep busy....I found some really wonderful projects - maybe these will work as a distraction...

First of all, if you don't get the Whip Up Newsletter. GET IT!

Now that you've done that look at this!

I'm on a cloth bag for use in the kitchen kick at the moment! I want to try out these food preserving bags from Lakeland and they are sooo cheap

I'd love to hear about it if anyone uses them. I really want to get the potato bag, I have the most trouble with my potatoes sprouting and going off before I can use them all followed by my mushrooms. I hate waste, and these look like they might be a great solution to some of my food waste!

This looks fun, I'm thinking of doing one for a friend's wedding present with their wedding date on and stuff.

I'll just tell ya right now, I'm probably going to be spending a heck of a lot of time on The Purl Bee blog.
I keep finding project after project that I want to give a go! Rather than posting them all here cause I'd be here all day I'll just encourage you to go have a look down the right side of the blog at all of the wonderfullness to share!

p.s. I just checked on Poppy, I'd  put a heating pad in with her, she's moved her bed off of it, so I guess she's warm enough...we'll just see how it goes. Thanks x
