Sneaky Peek!

+

It doesn't look like much, but it's the beginning of my newest project! I've been hunting and hunting for lovely things to put up on Baby Woo's walls but I'm struggling a bit to find just the right things.
I've found some inspiration on pinterest as usual so I'm getting started because time is ticking!
I am 27 weeks pregnant tomorrow! Only 13 to go! There is so much still to do!
One little project at a time & we'll get there :)

Pinterest Tutes.

Cozy Quick Blankie

I have found some of the CUTE-EST things I've ever seen on Pinterest! Have you heard of Pinterest? Are you on it?! I am so totally addicted! "Pinterest is an vision board-styled social photo sharing website where users can create and manage theme-based image collections".
The fun part for me is the new access to so many great tutorials and recipes all in one place with a sneak peek! It really is so addictive.  Oh the crafty & tasty possibilities!

oh I could just go on forEVER!
You can even find me on Pinterest :)
and I promise you'll become addicted too!

Peeking Out From Under The Duvet

Sorry I've not been around much. I've been spending a lot of time in bed or stretched out in front of the TV under a blanket. I have been so tired and kinda sick :( Yuck!
Baby Woo is growing fast and I'm starting to feel flickers of my old self coming back! Hooray!

I felt spritely enough to go berry picking this afternoon...only....it's still too early. I did manage to pick 3 blackberries which I gave to Daisy and Truman. Instead of the heavily drooping briar full of plump juicy berries I saw lots of this sorta thing....
Not very tempting. But it does look like my blackberry harvest is going to be HUGE this year! I just have to leave it a few weeks and then head back down with a bucket in hand to collect these!
I'll make jam, of course, but maybe I'll try something different too like Black Tea & Blackberry sorbet. Mmm...that sounds good! Yum! Hurry up and ripen all you berries!
I'd better go get the enchiladas out of the oven, if they burn I am going to be very sad! I am SO into Mexican food right now! I've always been a fan, but I think maybe Baby Woo can't get enough!

Pom into Wreath, I hope!

Months and months ago I fell in love with a project that a friend of mine Christy from Lovely Little Nest made for her sweet baby Harper. Isn't it just the loveliest pom pom?!

I just used my spare paper lantern on making an "artichoke lantern" for a friend of mine. Have you seen these?
My friend Claire sent me this photo and said "could you make one for me?"

I do have a Styrofoam ring  from one of my book wreaths
Not mine, but you get the idea. This was the actual wreath that inspired me though :)
SO! HERE GOES NOTHIN'! I'm going to attempt combining the two techniques.
Pale yellow cotton, my glue gun, scissors and wreath ring!
Check ya in a bit!

The Frosted Petticoat and My Button Bouquet

The Frosted Petticoat  has created a Carnival theme wedding ceremony.  My sweet little button bouquet which now belongs to and was photographed by Clair Penn  was chosen to be part of the fun & inspiration!
I feel so honoured and tickled pink!

Thrift to Fantasy

This book ticks pretty much all of my boxes!
Rosemary McCleod has one of this country's largest collections of women's handcrafts. When it was exhibited at the Dowse gallery, almost 40,000 women of all ages came to see it, and the idea for this book was born. In her own words: "My collection began when I held onto items made by women in my own family when they died. I still have items made by my great grandmother, grandmother and my mother. I began collecting other objects about 20 years ago. I found them in thrift shops and bought them because they seemed to tell a story I knew from my own background." In Thrift to Fantasy, Rosemary has used them to brilliant effect, creating a unique social and personal history of their makers - women and girls who dreamed about a life beyond the farm gate and worked those dreams into reality, using the simple materials they had to hand. From rag rugs to felt handbags, from patchwork quilts to sacking aprons, from knitted panties to topsy-turvy dolls, they provide a unique insight into women's art and creativity in a new country learning its own nature. Superbly illustrated with hundreds of examples from the 30s, 40s and 50s and designed by Sarah Maxey, this book is destined to become a classic.
That's the good news. The bad news is no one seems to stock it! Maybe it's out of print! Noooooo! I've only just discovered it in the March 2006 copy of Knitting magazine!
